Horseshoe Bay

TYING in with the 75th anniversary of West Van-
couver will be the annual Horseshoe Bay Day.

A committee, under the chairmanship of David
Weiser and with the participation of most of the local
businesses, is presently putting together celebration
** plans.

The event is scheduled for June 21 and numerous
activities are planned for the community and visitors
alike. In addition to taking a leisurely walk through
the beautiful areas around the bay, lunching in the
park, renting a boat to go fishing or cruising, partici-
pants can enjoy the following events:

* Horseshoe Bay Day parade from the fire hall (or
St. Monica’s Church) to Sewell’s Landing via Royal,
beginning at noon.

* Treasure hunt — featuring free balloons for the
children and a prize of a BMX bicycle donated by
Sussex Realty.

* Artist’s corner — by the totem pole in the park.
Exhibition, working artists and demonstrations of arts
and crafts.

Other events include a children’s dog show and
moon walk. Sewell’s Tarquin I1 will have half-hour
cruises available at a nominal charge on behalf of the

municipality.

IN 1912, West Van's population was 700. Today, the district has more
than 37,700 residents. This aerial photo shows part of West Van and
its shoreline. On July 5, a Memory Cruise aboard the Hollyburn
Cruiseship will offer a different scenic view of West Van. The cruise
