Beatrix Potter stories put to ballet

AUTHORS who write for
children do so for many
different reasons. The worst
reason is that they think it
must be casier and quicker
to write a juvenile book. The
best reason is that they love
children and truly want to
share something with them.
Such a writer was Beatrix
Potter, creator of the im-
mortal Peter Rabbit and
other delightful denizens of
the English countryside.
Born in 1866, Beatrix
Potter was the only dauchter

She was uncomfortable
with adults, but had great
affection for her little
cousins and other child
friends. For them she wrote
the first of the whimsical

On Thursday, April 8, at
Lynn Valley brary there
will be another film, for
adults and older children:
“Beatrix Potter: a private
worid” describes the lonely
early life of the author the

The film begins at 7:30
p-m. and last 45 minutes,
