THE sponsor of one fundraiser
and the theme of another are
guaranteed to turn both events
into fashionable affairs.

Big Sisters has gained the support of a
local clothier for its annua! auction and
dinner Thursday, while the West
Vancouver Foundation is hoping the
community will have fun with historical
fashion in sepport of its Nov. 6 gala.

Plant Clothing Company is the pre-
senting sponsor of the evening in support
of Big Sisters, Oct. 28 at eihe Hyatt

In addition to providing the organiza-
tion with gift certificates and packages of
clothing items for auction, Plum
founders Katie O'Brien and Ed

Sisters fundraising coordinator Karen
Wanders. The enterprising couple who
own -seven stores under the Plum
Clothing Co. banner have two daughters,
ages 11 and 15.

The auction and dinner is the largest
fundraising event of the year for Big
Sister of B. C.'s Lower Mainland division.
Last year’s event brought in more than
$30,000 to assist. the organization in
placing young girls in supportive rela-
tionships with caring women. Master of.
ceremonies for the evening is TV and
radio personality Vicki Gabereau.

More than 150 businesses have donat-
ed an array of products, services and
money to support the event. Items to be
featured at this vear’s auction include an
ultra-light, ultra-thin
libretto 100CT/3.2 mini-notebook com-
puter; a deluxe silent Bosch dishwasher;
an “antique green” queen-size bed from

Sleep Country Canada and a Ipxury spa

escape to Kingfisher Oceanside Resort

and Spa on Vancouver Island.
