Careful planning makes the dil-
ference. The following checklist of
things to think about can help you
make even your first tip like a
seasoned traveller.

First, when you visit your travel
agent to plan your trip:

agent your budget restrictions and
time limits, your sightseeing pref-
erences and your favorite activi-
ties. If you need special diet or
medical arrangements, ask your
agent to determine availability.

tination. Or, if you rely on the

choosing a destination, have in
mind whether you want city
sightseeing or country quiet, non-
stop activity or undisturbed relaxa-
tion.

free literature your travel agent
and various other travel suppliers
provide.

Feel free to ask your travel agent
about local conditions, customs,
weather and clothing needs. Find
out about local products and
bargains, and comparison shop
before leaving home.

The international traveller
should find out about required
documents, innoculations, and
currency exchange.

° Find out from your agent
about what costs are covered by
tour packages or accommodations
and what extra expenses to expect.

Your agent will also explain the
complexities of charter flights, and
cancelation provisions if you — or
the travel supplier — cancels.

Then, aS you prepare for your
trip:

° Pack properly without
overloading. Remember essentials
like an extra supply of prescribed
medicines or non-prescription
headache and motion sickness
remedies, some extra cash or trav.

leave sufficient time for making
travel connections.

alone, carry a letter of consent
from a parent or guardian.

Despite all planning, problems

travel agent upon your return.
