daycare to have its day in court By lan Noble News Reporter tan@nsnews.com THE daycare dilemma at Capilano elemen- tary continues to be unresolved even though students will be hitting the books on Tuesday. The trouble revolves around a daycare that refuses to leave the school grounds. The North Vancouver school has ordered it out to make way for three portables, which are needed to house the school’s burgeoning stu- dent population. On Sept. 5, the Supreme Court of B.C. will hear North Vancouver School District 44’s petition for an order to allow the board to evict the daycare, which has a 2,100-square-foot (195 sq. m) portable on school grounds. The school portables are slated to go where the day- care sits. Meanwhile, the school must cope with the space it has. The third class will take over the gymnasium, said Cehak. “We'll have to hope for some sunny weather so we can have our PE classes outside,” she said. Cehak said the school decided to make the changes and wait for developments in the daycare saga rather than put the portables on different sites due to safety issues and the community’s and school’s use of the playgrounds. “It’s time consuming.
