Provincial Little League Championships Monday by beating Victoria Triangle 7-6. The game was continued from the night before when it was called because of darkness. Highlands, the North Shore’s representative in the tournament, led the way in Saturday's opening day games with a 15-1 drubbirg of northern B.C.’s Nechake team. The North Shore team met Whalley in Friday's semi-finals of the eight-tearn tournament which was piayed at Chris Zuehlke Park in North Vancouver. In other action last week, Dun- can eliminated Victoria Drive from tournament action Monday with a 12-2 win, Whalley edged out Trail 3-1 Tuesday and Victoria Triangle eliminated Kitsitano Wednesday, winning 3-2. The finals are Monday. Hunter bowls over Games competition VANCOUVER'’S Nell Hunter, the oldest competitor at the Com- monwealth Games, picked up her first win Tuesday in the lawn bowling singles. Hunter, 71, beat England's Margaret Blatmann 21-18. She is not in contention for a medal as the victory brought her record at the games to one win and five defeats. But the victory came as a much-needed boost, particuiaiiy in light of a major loss earlier in the week when she was defeated 21-7 by New Zealand's Rhoda Ryan. Hunter has competed on the bowling green for 40 years, while also playing softball, basketball, soccer and golf, Biker wins NORTH VANCOUVER's Ricky Hamer-Jackson won the senior division of the provincial motocross championships recently. The 16-year-old two-wheeling wonder amassed the winning points total in the nine-round championships culminating in competitions in Quesnel July 13, Hamer-Jackson, who began his motorcycling career at age two, took the 12Sce category. The win moves him into from senior division competition to ex- pert level, the top provincial divi- sion. There are seven competitive divisions in B.C. motocross. Hamer-Jackson will be going up against the country’s best motocross riders Aug. 17 when the Canadian National Expert Charn- pionships will be held in Aldergrove.
