Friend and fellow North Shore Rescue Team member George Zihati said Batt likely spent 15 hours a week as a rescue team vol- unteer. Batt, a senior search manager, was heavily involved in forming precedures and protocols for search and rescue work both provincially and locally. Initially, when Batt joined ‘the: rescue group 20 years ago. he spent much of his time training his dogs in search work, Zihali said. Batts wife, Lynn Batt, said her husband did not leave his love of the outdoors at work: camping was a favorite activity.
