Bylaw 6645 - Height Regulations for Additions, Alterations and Reconstruction The purpose of this bylaw is to control the height of homes in existing neighbourhoods and ensure that construction fits with the general character of those areas, while Council _ considers the introduction of local zoning regulations. Under this Bylaw, additions, alterations, demolitions and reconstruction will be 7 permitted if the proposed work does not exceed the maximum building and eave height of the existing single family dwelling. However — "owners could apply for a development variance permit to exceed the height of the existing house. : . This bylaw excludes the newly developing | Braemar area, as identified on the map below. . Withholding of permits While Council considers Bylaw 6645, building permits for single family construction within the. area of Bylaw 6645 which exceed the height of the existing house will be referred to Council. Council may decide to withhold a permit for an. . initial 30-day period and possibly for a further 60-day period. This decision will be based upon : the degree which the proposed house exceeds _ the height limitations and the impact of that | house on the general character of the immediate neighbourhood. This applies to permit applications submitted after February 22, 1994, or in the case of the North Lonsdale Historic Area, after March 21, 1994.
