THE JEWELRY art and design
program at Vancouver Community
College has room for an additional
26 students in its upcoming course
this September.

VCC’s jewelry program is
designed to meet the growing de-
mand for top quality original jew-
elry by training skilled young jew-
elry designers.

The two-year diploma course
teaches students both the technical
and artistic elements of jewelry
making.

niques which go back hundreds of
years, even to the time of the In-

Walentowicz.

Walentowicz says the program is
designed for people who have
previous artistic training or experi-
ence.

Graduates from the course are
trained to work in the industry in a
wide range of positions, from set-
ting up their own studio workshop
or jewelry store, to working as a
freelance jewelry designer,
goldsmith or silversmith.

Among the industry advisors for
the course is renowned Haida artist
Bill Reid and Gisla Brinkhaus.
