NV man guilty of school disturbance A 30-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man was placed on probation for two years after be pleaded guilty Monday in North Vancouver provincial court to causing a disturbance in 2 Iccst school. Joseph Roger Michael Landry was originally charged with mischief sad causing a disturbance in connection with Oct. 4, 1988 incidents in which a telephone at Queen Mary clementary school was alleged to have been damaged and a disturbance caused at the schoo} by shouting. Appearing before Judge J.D. Layton, Landry pleaded guilty to causing 2 disturbance. A stay of proceedings was entered in the mischief charge laid against him. In addition to the probation term, Landry was ordered te pay $95 in restiution to B.C. Tel. N. Shore society gets grants THE NORTH Shore Family Services Society has received $5,000 in Community Action Program (CAP) funding, North Vancouver- Capilano MLA and Solicitor General Angus Ree announced recently. Funds will be used to: * provide staff with training and consultation to enable them to serve clients whose alcohol and drug problems are having a nega- tive impact on their families; © provide consultation to high school counsellors; e and develop and run therapeutic groups for adult children of alcoholics and other co-dependents. “Alcohol and drug abuse is a widespread problem that can destroy geople’s lives and incur tremendous economic costs,’’ Ree said.
