finishings that require flow
maintenance, are long lasting and
look great.

Today, there are a range of at-
tractive and elegant finishings that
can meet this demand.

Many new homes are built with
vinyl siding that comes in a range
of colors from creams and whites
to pastel shades. Vinyl siding is
durable and some manufacturers
offer a ‘‘lifetime’’ warranty.

For a darker exterior, houses
can be finished in aluminum siding
which comes in a variety of dark
and light colors. Aluminum has

tages of vinyl, it is also durable, —

Cedar siding is attractive and

natural product. It comes in a

require re-staining every three to

modern home designs. Increasingly
popular are applications with curv-
ing facades that make interior
areas appear more spacious than
they really are,

Designs like these require a clean
exterior finish for which stucco is
perfect. As with the other exterior
finishings, stucco is a low
maintenance product and can easi-
ly be painted.

Curb appeal is also important in
the roof design. Graceful cottage
roofs are appearing on many new
homes. These roofs have stcep pit-
ches and are frequently finished in
made-in-B.C, cedar shakes or
shingles.
