she would recognize and not
hire prostitutes, which cius-
ed other council members to
approve the service licence.

But recent esvort service
publicity exposed Interlude
Services as being a front for
prostitution.

Said Dean: ‘‘There’s no
way | could ever approve
regulations for escort ser-
vices because | think most
people think it's a front for
prostitution. When people
live off the avails of pro-
stitution, it’s an offence
against the criminal code.”

pretty serious allegations,”
Dean continued. ‘But we're

don't believe there's too
much point in putting escort
services underground. § It’s
better to accept escort ser-
vices as legally valid, and re-
cord and control them pro-
perly with the bylaws."’
