District recognizes | heritage advocaies A reception and pre- sentation at North Vancouver District Hall Mondav honored 1997 recipients of dis- trict heritage and design awards. The Community Heritage Commission (CHC) with the support of council initated tts Heritage Award Program inorder ta) recognize and honor special Projects and accomplishments in the field of heritage conservation. The CHC is an advisory body appointed by council. fits members inetade auali- fied professionals such as architects and landscape architects, specialists in building restoration, a histo- rian and local residents with an interest in’ heritage con- servation. The CHC advises council on the administration of its Heritage Conservation Program. This includes protection of the district’s historic areas and a heritage buildings. Tr also. presents heritage plaques, prepares guides, and organizes walking tours, awards and displays.
