Fraud suspect

nabbed in N. Van :

A bogus canvasser was
barking up the wrong
tree in Upper
Lonsdale on Sept. 10.

The 31-year-old North
Vancouver man was arrested
for being suspected of com-
mitting

According to the North
Vancouver RCMP, the man,
whose name was not released,
claimed to be collecting
money on behalf of the
SPCA.

Spanning the Coastal Waters of B.C.

He said he was collecting
pledge money for the “Bark in
The Park” walkathon.

Suspicious residents called
police. Charges may be laid in
connection with the incident.

The North Vancouver
RCMP remind people that
door-to-door canvassers must
carry identification. Police say
this type of fraud has a detri-
mental affect on legitimate
canvassers for charity and
worthy causes.
