FUN TIME lest week as
Vancouver Tourism people,
tour operators and conven-
tion planners guested on
board Fergus Dudiey’s sleek
white 105-foot yacht,
Princess Tianna.

She carries 250 passengers and
is a perfect party boat! Venue West
president Betty Fata was one of
those guests, still on Cloud Nine
after she and her convention-plan-
ning business were profiled in the
current edition of BC Business...

The unveiling of the muiti-mil-
lion dollar renovations at the Inn at
False Creek last week attracted a
good deal of attention.

Jim Yeo is GM, Randy
Vannuatter is Sales & Marketing,
Kent Kalberg did the photograph-
ic layout for the brochures,
debonair Jacques Omnes is their
PR consultant and the charming
Naju Lalji owns the place.

; The 157-room, 15 suite bou-
tique hotel has a southwestern
Sante Fe flavor with Mexican art
and pottery, Italian marble, arched
corridors and touches of Canadian
maple. Some of the 300 guests cn
hand for the reception included

Jaequi Cohen’s gala Face The
World last Thursday at her water-
front mansion was a name-drop-
per’s delight that began in the plaza
with the auction items up for grabs.

Several of the femmes looked
like they too were up for bids. In
fact, the only thing that held up
Carla Temple’s painted-on red
lycra was a city bylaw. Just at the
height of excitement, the power
failed which probably added to the
electricity in the air. The ladies
loved it!

Candlelight is so much kinder,
though the Elephant & Castle’s
Peter Barnett was heard to say
“Damn! I was here to be seen!”

arrived in town much later than
expected.
