Sunday, August 14, 1994 - North Shore News - 21 PERM SPECIAL 5 °° ':. PLUS G.S.T "extra for long halr Model search comes to N. Van shopping mali at end of August IF YOU have what it takes, includ- ing youth, height, good skin and facial structure, you could be $100,000 richer and become inter- nationally famous. By Caral Crenna Contributing Writer This is a notice to introduce another model search competition, but it is not of the standard calibre or typical “hurry-up-and-wait™ atti- tude often associated with these types of events. It does not require any entrance fee or any money whatever. It is not associated with a modeling school, so no one will be offering courses to “potential faces.” It is not associated with a modeling conference taking place in another city, where local agencies do not cover the costs. It is a professionally organized, legitimate competition called Next Mode! Search which is being spon- sored by Next Model Management in New York City. The agency will award a $100,000 contract to the winner, a $30,000 contract to the second- place winner and a $20,000 contract to the third runner-up of the contest. The winners will have work as models in New York. Next scout Bev Bolt, well- known for discovering Naomi Campbell and several other famous faces, will attend. Fashion Model Management from Milan, and Giovanni Models from Montreal and Toronto are also sending their top scouts, All of these agency rep- resentatives will be judges. The search is being hosted by Lizbell Model Management, a Vancouver agency that represents international models and works often with Next Model Management in New York and Miami. Liz Bell, a well-known former model who lives in West Vancouver, has decided to mount the compelition on the Nonh Shore. The event, which takes place at Capilano Mall on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 26-27, will be high- lighted by a fashion show that promises to be one of the best the North Shore has ever witnessed, Well-respected Vancouver fash- ion choreographer Tracy Pincott will coordinate the show, and make- up artist Anya Ellis will style the hair and makeup. All models will be trom Liz Bell's agency. The contest winners will be announced during this Back to School fashion show, taking place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, and will also be featured in the show. The contest is open to teenage girls who fill out an entry form and include a full-length photo and a snapshot of their face. Forms can be picked up at any Capilano Mall store or at Lizbell Model Management agency, 201-525 Seymour St., Vancouver. It is billed as “unquestionably the most fashionable event of the season.” By Carol Crenna Contributing Writer Judging from the list of guest designers showing fall collections they may very wel! have something to boast about. High-quality fashion perfor- mances in Vancouver are few and far between (half a dozen per year if - we're fortunate) so it may be worth your while to attend this one. It is a rare occasion that the city sees all of its top designers includ- ing Zonda Nellis, Catherine Regehr. Maryland Q:Can | dryclean my blankets ? A: With nightime tempera- tures on the upswing, your blankets are one by one find- ing their way into your closets. Probably after being cleaned. Most Glankets can either be washed or drycieaned, except for electric blankets which should never be drycleaned. When washed at home, wool blankets can experience felting shrinkage. A profes- sional cleaner, on the other hand, has the special equip- ment to process wool blankets safely, without shrinkage. A professional cleaner can also card and brush your bian- kets, returning them to their original look and feel.
