REGISTRATIONS FOR the first
Sew It Seams sewing, craft and
needle arts show at Tradex in Ab-
botsford are being received from
as far away as Colorado, accord-
ing to organizers.

The show, scheduled for Feb.
19 to 22, features over 100 exhib-
its and 65 educational seminars,
make and take workshops, free
how-to demonstrations and five
professionally produced fashion
shows,

Show manager Lilly Thorne
says the appeal of Sew It Seams is
the calibre of sewing celebrities
from around North America, who
will be on hand offering their ex-
pertise and advice to more than
10,000 visitors expected to attend.

“In addition to some of British
Columbia’s top designers, we have
experts coming from as far away
as New Hampshire, New York
and Jowa. Many of them are
authors, lecturers and even televi-
sion personalities who cover topics
like knitting, serging, weaving,
quilting, embroidery and dozens

of other subjects,’’ said Thorne.

With seminars daily: between
9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., the variety
of courses being offered are
designed to attract every level of
sewing and craft-work enthusiast.

“In conjunction with the show,
we recently concluded a major
sewing contest in the Lower
Mainland and Fraser Valley where
entrants were judged on originali-
ty, color and fabric selection in
addition to workmanship, level of
technique and individual merit,’’
explained Thorne.

‘In the six categories, we
selected 100 finalists whose works
will be on display at Sew It Seams
and the winners chosen by the
