the right gear, offers lots of pass-
ing power. The manual five-speed
transmission has short, quick,
easy throws and the optional
four-speed automatic offers
smooth shifts and an overdrive
gear for comfortable highway
cruising.

The G20 also offers a limited-
slip front differential, a rare
feature on a_ front-wheel-drive
car.

This feature helps prevent one
wheel from slipping and spinning
on a slippery surface by transfer-
ring some of the power to the
other driving wheel. This is a
useful safety feature for driving

on snow, ice and other slippery
surfaces,

Stopping power is confidence-
inspiring, courtesy of standard
vented front-disc brakes and solid
rear-discs. ABS (anti-lock
brakes), for greater steering con-
trol in panic situations, is stand-
ard equipment.

The view from the driver’s seat
is panoramic, aided by a large
windshield, a low hood, lots of
perimeter window glass, and no
large pillars to block rear three-
quarter vision.

The G20’s steering and in-
dependent suspension provide
more input to the driver than

those in other compact sedans.
The power-assisted steering is
light, precise and responsive and
the suspension absorbs all manner
of bumps and upsets withaut los-
ing its fouting. .

The driver feels connected to
the road, rather than isolated
from it.

$f I had to nit-pick, I'd say that
the G20's styling is fairly plain-
looking. Oh, and the rear bench
seat won't fold down for addi-
tional cargo space.

But other than that, I like it.

If you’re looking for a welt-
equipped compact sedan, the G20
should be on your browsing list.
