VanGelder added that the socks
and the shoulders are also areas of
constant abuse.

As 1 was leaving my gracious
host’s home, she told me that she
had recently been told to make
sure she had an ‘‘A’' patch (as in
assistant captain) ready to be sewn
on a shirt.

Asked which player’s shirt
would need the alteration,
VanGelder just smiled and said,
“*You’ll have to read it in the
Ppapers.’’

Dina VanGelder is proof that
loyalty and team work are not
traits that are left on the ice when
