PARK & TILFORD GARDENS NEWS BRIEFS Con captured AN ESCAPED Calgary convict has been arrested by the West Vancouver Police and charged with possession of Stolen property.after a West Vancouver woman found a mar in her heme brandishing a firearm. According to a police spokesman, a West Vancouver woman had catied police on the afternoon cf Nev. 25 and reported a break and enter in progress in her home. The woman had reported that a man had entered her house and was carrying a handgun. When the suspect saw the woman he fled the scene. The police set up roadblocks in the area and a nearby resident reported seeing a suspicious male in a red pickup truck, The police spotted and stopped the suspect vehi- cle, which bore Alberta ficence plates. The vehicle’s driver was arrested; the police also found a handgun on the pickup's front seat. A search of the vehicle also produced several other handguns, rifles and shotguns. Stolen jewelry was also found in the vehicle, and the vehicle and its Jicence plates were also found to be stolen. The suspect was found to be unlawfully at large from the Czigary Correctional Centre. Charged with possession of stolen property is 21- year-old Roger Clark Silvey. Charges of break and enter are also pending sgainst Silvey in connection with inci- dents alleged to have occurred in Revelstoke, B.C., Cochran, Alberts, and Canmore, Alberta. Sauce November * Spectal Dim Sum 12 ‘ Saturdays for month of November on 10 iterns Dead man named THE SQUAMISH RCMP have released the name of a North Vancouver man who died Tuesday morning in 2 motor vehicle accident along the Squamish Highway, about 1.5 kilometres south of Lions Bay. Richard Allan Ladd, 30, was pronounced dead on ar- rival at Lions Gate Hospital. A police spokesman said Ladd was northbound in a 1960 Mazda when his vehicle crossed the centre line and crashed head-on with a southbound 1999 Mustang, being driven by Phil Needham, 56, of Lions Bay. Needham, a Vancouver Sun reporter, suffered a frac- tured heel aad was transported to Liors Gate Hospital. The police said Needham’s car was equipped with an air bag. The Sweet Adelines and Willie and The Wassailers will provide musical entertainment from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the official Park and Tilford lighting-up ceremony.
