Reward offered for trumpet’s return From page 9 married more than 40 years ago, had been with him through al] the highs and lows, the ups and downs, and it was she and A.A. who helped him win the battle with Demon Rum in 1984. Something else that was always with him was his jewel-encrusted trumpet. Whether he was at his restau- rants, on his yacht El Citta, at the Lions football games, backstage at every club in town, or in Hawaii, the trumpet was always there. It was part of him. Several months ago, someone broke into Frank’s place and stole a number of things, including his beloved trumpet — and it wasn’t insured. When Frank Baker was moved into the Palliative Care Ward of St. Paul’s Hospital a few weeks ago, there was a sign overhead vact read ‘‘Frank’s Place,’’ there was a guest book for visitors to sign, and beside him, on the bed was a repli- ca in papier mache of his beloved trumpet. So I have a serious request. Frank has gone, but | wonder if someone out there has his horn, and if they’d return it. No ques- tions asked. Radio station CKNW is offering a $250 reward for its safe return. Just call and leave a message for me at the News. I'll gladly come and pick it up from wherever it is. i know it would make his family happy. And me, too. Rest in peace, Frank...
