NSEDC was incorporated in August to direct the implementa- tion of North Shore economic strategies established by the North Shore Economic Development Advisory Committee (NSEDAC). The committee’s 88-page North Shore economic development strategy, published last October, was produced by 60 community and business leaders who met more than 50 times over four months in 1987 to come up with an overall economic plan for the North Shore. Through a detailed assessment of local industries, services and recreational and natural resources, the document provides the North Shore with a unique blueprint for a united economic and_ industrial assault on the future. NSEDAC chairman and Capilano College’s director of planning Alan Smith said the commission will now hire an economic development officer and is currently looking for office space.
