days left until Christmas and
North Shore stores have just about
everything buyers are looking for

Tom Young, of the North Van-
couver store Hangers, says cotton
dresses are proving to be a pepular
gift item so far this year. ‘‘They're
$24 and people come in and buy
two or three,’* he explains.

Jean jackets, starting at $46, are
also hot items, says Young.
“Anything in denim, because
denim is going to be one of spr-
ing’s biggest looks.’’ As well, the
store’s selection of evening dresses
is drawing rave reviews from
buyers.

“Sweaters are always popular,”’
he says.

Those who would rather be
slimmer than they are now will
likely delight in a weight-loss gift
from Diet Centre. The centre is
featuring a special until Christmas
and at a price of $35 a week, who
could possibly resist.

Karen Derrick of Shakers in
Park Royal Mall says sweaters are
a hot item. ‘‘We ‘sell a lot of
sweaters for gifts,’’ she explains.
““We have some wool, but we carry
mostly acrylic.’

and some nibbles to eat,’’ says
