THE GOVERNMENT ot British Columbia 1s establishing a central tourist accommodation reservation system to meet the needs of the many visitors expected for Expo 8&6, Tourism Minister Claude Richmond recently announced. “This will be a permanent service to travellers and tourism operators and will provide its value almost im- mediately,’’ Richmond said. **But it will be particularly valuable in ensuring the com- fort and convenience of the millions of visitors we will be entertaining during Expo year, as well as tor other ma- jor events.”’ The system — to be fully operanonal by early 1985 — will be privately operated, in- volving no expenditure of public funds. The company chosen to manage the reser- vation system will have an ex- clusive contract with Tourism B.C. and with Expo, to en- sure the service meets the standards the government of British Columbia will insist on.
