Europe Reserving for Expo

seminar is for you. The
seminar will cover all aspects
of planning a relaxing, and
happy European holiday, in-
cluding where to go, how to
read a train schedule, smart
sightseeing, and ‘‘they do
everything differently here.”’

The seminar will also cover
special strategies for the
woman travelling alone.

So, whether you are plann-
ing to travel this year, or just
would like to travel, this
course is for you.

The instructor, Gail-
Elizabeth Glen, has ex-
perience in both the problems
and pleasures of a hohday in
Europe, as well as having
travelled extensively, she also
lived in Italy, while studying
for a master's degree in art
history.

The one-day workshop will
be held May 5 from 10 a.m.
to 4 p.m. at the West End
Community Centre. Cost ts

establishing a central tourist
accommodation reservation
system to meet the needs of
the many visitors expected
for Expo 8&6, Tourism
Minister Claude Richmond
recently announced.

“This will be a permanent
service to travellers and
tourism operators and will
provide its value almost im-
mediately,’’ Richmond said.

**But it will be particularly
valuable in ensuring the com-
fort and convenience of the
millions of visitors we will be
entertaining during Expo
year, as well as tor other ma-
jor events.”’

The system — to be fully
operanonal by early 1985 —
will be privately operated, in-
volving no expenditure of
public funds. The company
chosen to manage the reser-
vation system will have an ex-
clusive contract with Tourism
B.C. and with Expo, to en-
sure the service meets the
standards the government of
British Columbia will insist

on.

be able to apply for a listing
if they wish. Thus the new
system will supplement a ser-
vice which has already pro-
ven of great help to the
hospitality industry and
visitors alike,’ the minister
said.

June 20. An information
meeting to explain. the
government’s requirements
and the proposed procedure
was held at the Robson
Square Media Centre at 800
Hornby Street in Vancouver.
