Why is there not mere
coverage and outery in the
North Shore News about
the proposed $75 (to be
increased at 5% a year) vehi-
cle levy?

Kabir Ebrahim is right on

- in his June 21 fetter to the
editor: oppose this tax and
break away from the GVRD!

It is another tax grab
without representation and
accountability, which the
overburdened taxpayer can-
not afford.

You think there is waste
on the transit authority now;

-what will it escalate to with

this unlimited source of

- additional revenue? Is it not
bad enough that the organi-
zation is top-heavy, over-
paid, and rampant with fare
evasion?

From past experience as a
transit employce and rider,

* fare evasion is highest on the
North Shore, with fares sel-
dom checked at Lonsdale

Quay, Phibbs Exchange and

~ on most of the buses.

The North Shore taxpay-
er will not get one’s mon
worth in service improve-
ments, and we already pay
