Pessimein ci’t help but wither and crumple when in their orbit. Phe rvins have set their course on the road tu success. William is busy building himself an entertainment empire. Andre, in consert with West Vancouver musician Adam H., is abe staking his ground in the world of show biz. The brothers are originally trom Cali, Colombia. They fave peen in’ Canada since they were four years old. Their father brought them to Canada for a bet- ter life. They live with parents Elizabert: and Alberto in) the Blueridge neighbourhood of North Vancouver. Brothers Richard, 19, and Henry, 12, live there as well. “We're a very close family,” says Andre, whe is 20 minutes older than William. The nvins are competitive. They strive to outdo each other. Says Andre, “It’s tan. Girls come op tous, “Are you: guys twins? Ie’s just their excuse to pick us up. Now that we have companies, we trv to see who ts better.” But be says, “We love cach other very much. He’s mv best friend. “Nowadays we don’t tight. You just five once in this world and you can go at any ame,” says Andre, the philosophical older one. The differences are subdle. “1 believe Pim more spiritual than my brother.” Andre says. “We used to think the same, when we did everything together, but then our lives started to change when we had businesses. Our way of thinking and speaking started to change. The similarities are that we're very vibrant and people: skilled.” William finds benefit in having a twin. “It’s been a great advantage. You get more attention. And when Pm down, ve got someone to pick me up.” They both like to deal with successtul people, people who tend to think big. Says William: “The secret to success is hanging around with successful people. Always be positive, ifyou’re negative vou’re not going to get anywhere in life.” William's company New World Artist: Productions Ine. has existed since 1993. Through it William is involved with promo- tions, multimedia projects, the management of musicians, dancers, and the casting of extras for television and motion pictures. New World has even opened SAR (System Anti-Rebo), an anti- vehicle theft device company in Mexico Cin. William is best known on the Vancouver glamourous nightlife circuit as the host of Vancouver Film West, a series of movie indus- try parties held in swank clubs. The affairs are name-dropping delights with such people as David Hasselhoff ( Barwatch), The Artist (fermerly known as Prince), Bryan Adams and many of the cast and crew of shows like X-Files, Stargate, All My Children, Breaker Highs, 90210 and Millennison in attendance. Says William, “It started with an idea of getting the tilm indus- try closer together to party, so that everybody would network with Micuact Becker News Epitor each other and that way deals would come together faster — big- ger deals, more movies filmed.” He will take the upstairs of a place like Richards on Richards and turn it into a VIP section. “We make sure everybody knows each other for what they do and who they are. If they don’t talk, they don’t accomplish any- thing. So [tell them, ‘This guy owns the biggest movie studio in the world. This guy, be did the animation tor Anastasia.” Now they talk, they network — T actually did put these two guys togeth- er ata Film West party and now this guy is going to be bringing the Never Ending Story TV show to Vancouver. Andre appeared in a Gerber baby food commercial three years ago. He was the baby grown up. Andre also owns a recording studio with Adam H., a West Van produzer-singer-songwriter who is finding success in the Latin pop market. Andre has been Adam H.’s tour manager since 1997 and a partner in Global Music Group since the beginning of this year. They are grooming voung artists to take on the Latin American pop/dance market. Earlier this year in July Andre and Adam held a day of auditions at the Pacific Palisades hotel on Robson, As a result, they're working with Angie Scandale, 19, from Victoria Says Andre, “t did an interview oa the radio, 96.1, a Spanish program, and mentioned that we were having auditions. Her mom phoned and wanted us to audition her daughter, who is half Iralian, half Mexican. “She sang O Canada tor us — very sexy, very nice,” savs Andre, tlashing his thousand mega-watt smile.
