Island Public Market offers more
than fresh fish and produce. Every
weekend the market has free craft
demonstrations. The last weekend
-of March, Izabel Sauer will hand-

Q: With so many designers
emphasizing “shoulders”. this
season, what's, the best way
to maintain the shape of my
garment's shoulder pads so
they look best on me?

A: Any change in the condition of posi-
tioning of your pads may affect how the gar-
ment drapes on your body. To maintain their
shape, remove large shoulder pads from frag-
ile garments before drycleaning or washing
because larger pads dry more slowly and may
tear loose from the shell fabric. It is generally
not necessary to remove smaller pads; how-
ever, check to see that they are tightly secured
io the garment. Replace any broken tracks
before you begin the care process. Some
shoulder pads may need reshaping or a quick
retacking, which can be done by your profes-
sional cleaner. For frequently cleaned gar-
ments, consider having the thread tacking
replaced with Velcro strips. These make pad
removal a snap!
