Pian calls for GVRD parks upgrade work THE GREATER Vancouver Regional District (GVRD) parks department’s long-range plan to upgrade 19 parks throughout the Lower Mainland has cleared its first hurdle. The scheme will now have to weather the scrutiny of the budget and treasury committee and then the GVRD board before getting final approval. The acting manager for GVRD parks said the “1995-2004 long- range plan” is “a forecast” rather than an absolute promise of things to come. “We'll have to review the plan ——- on an annual basis,” said Bob On Wednesday, July 13, the Gibson, noting that implementation parks committee approved the plan, of the improvements will depend on which calls for a $12.5 million expenditure over nine years.
