HDr. J: Prospot is an insecti-’
‘Hicide that was licensed in
{Canada 2 years ago for flea

control in dog's. Only your
veterinarian can apply the liq-
uid to your dog's skin--at the
back of the neck. The insecti-
cide is readily absorbed
through the skin into the
blood stream. When a flea
sucks a blood meal, it takes
in the insecticide and dies.
One application controls fleas
for 2 to 3 weeks.

A similar medication in tablet
or liquid formn for oral use in
dogs and cats is Proban. This
product is also a systemic
insecticide--it gets into the
pet's bloodstream and kills
fleas when they take a blood
meal. Proban is administered
twice weekly. When given, it
kills fleas for about 12 hours.
Most people appreciate the
simplicity of the systematic
approach to flea control when
compared to topical sprays
and powders.

Be on the lookout for sys-
temic. flea control product
called PROGRAM. It will be
licensed for both dogs and
cats as an oral monthly med-
ication
