ECO PRODUCTS A NORTH Vancouver-based company, EcoTrend Products, has recently started producing and marketing their line of NutriBiotic products. EcoTrend was recently formed by combining the experience of long-time trading house Andrews and George with the international marketing and management exper- tise of Inverey Investments. Tojether they have developed a new company concentrating on developing new technology and environmental products. Their main focus to date is call- ed NutriBiotic. Its active ingre- dient is citricidal, a biologically active botanical extract of citrus. It is actually a grapefruit seed extract. The product line, which is non-toxic and environmentally friendly, does everything from soothing acne to sanitizing kitchen cutting boards. The product line consists of antiseptic spray, cap- sules, tablets, non-soap skin cleaners, bubble bath and dental! gel. . The products are available in health food stores on the North Shore including Internal Heaith, Mountsinside Natural Foods, Seymour Natural Foods and the West Coast Vitamin House. CONTAINER SERVICE A NEW container service launch- ed recently by the China Ocean Shipping Co. (COSCO) is -being greeted enthusiastically by the Surj Rattan BUSINESS BRIEFS Vancouver Port Corp. (VPC). COSCO’s new service will call the Port of Vancouver directly from China via Japan and will become the first transPacific liner service to call Vancouver ahead of U.S. west coast ports. “‘With this new service the Port of Vancouver becomes an authen- tic North American gateway,” said VPC chairman Patrick Reid. “The port and the Canadian tailways have the capability to service the continental container trade effectively and we now have an opportunity to prove it.’” VPC chairman and port man- ager Capt. BANK SCAM THE ROYAL Bank of Canada has reported that a number of its clients in Vancouver, Burnaby and Surrey have received telephone calls from people impersonating bank employees and asking them to divulge their personal iden- tification numbers (P.1.N.) and, in some cases, their bank accounts. The criminals use a variety of stories to obtain this information. Peg Byars, Royal Bank public affairs manager,. said no Royal Bank employee is authorized to act in this manner. They are not allowed to ask a client for their P.I.N. as only the client is to have this information. Customers approached in this ‘manner are advised to contact the police.
