RUARK ROSWELL Smith, a West Vancouver designer, recently showed his Holiday °84
Collection at his new studio in Vancouver, and what a splash it was. With fabrics ordered ex-
clusively from Switzerland, the outfits are rich and luxurious. Above, Dorothy wears an elec-
tric blue silk charmeuse dress cut on the bias with a deep cowel back and draping front. Lined
with silk, this is one of Ruark’s most popular gowns, approximate retail $200. Above right,
Ruark poses with Frances, who is wearing a silver mirrored sequin vest and skirt lined with
silk georgette, worn over a sheer black silk georgette blouse with matching scarf. Approx-
imate retail for the vest, $450, the skirt $390 and the blouse $175.
