Lortie, a member of the
Canadian Armed Forces, is
facing three counts of murder
and eight counts of attemp-
ted murder.

Lortie was taken into

custody and charged after a
lone man, armed with a sub-
machine gun, stormed into
the Quebec National
Assembly last week and
opened fire.

Lortie appeared in court
briefly Wednesday to select
the method of mal on the at-
tempted murder charges.

Conference Board of
Canada says that B.C. and
Alberta will trail the rest of
