Easy listening for Hagood fans By NANCY WEATHERLEY AN EVENING with Hagood Hardy could be likened to getting stuck in an elevator for a couple of hours, unable to turn off the music, unless you are a fan in which case Hardy’s engagement at Plazazz provides a relaxing evening of Easy Listening. He begins his show with Stay Awhile, and other selec- tions from his new album, Chasing a Dream. Hardy is a fine pianist, as well as a composer. He is most famous for his com- position, the Homecoming, which became the theme song for Salada Tea commercials. His music has also been used in movie scores (mostly TV as he is quick to point out.) Hardy is joined by drum- mer Barry Elmes, guitarist Rob Pilch, bass guitarist Tim Stacy, and vocalists Mary Saxton and Melinda Whittaker. Together they make a fine group, although it is in- teresting to note that all of them, Hardy included, come more to hfe during Cole Porter's | Love You than during any of Hardy’s own compositions. Hagood Hardy’s show is not an exciting one, but it provides a very pleasant and relaxing evening of easy listening. The show continues until October 29; for more infor- mation call 984-0611.
