ANDY HOLTZMAN of North Vancouver was the first place finisher in the Norwesters Fun Run October 16. Holtzman, running in the Open Men’s category, nosed out first senior high school runners Steve Bandola by five seconds, crossing the Brockton Oval finish line at 31:05. The fun run format, with all age categories starting together and running. the same course, was obviously a benefit for the younger runners. The first two elementary school age athletes crossed the finish line less than five minutes after the winners. A majornty of runners in that class crossed in under 45 minutes. Most runners were willing to concede first prize to Stanley Park itself. The Run Warriors capture first win THIRD PERIOD goals by Rob Bateman and Norm Ret- tie gave the Warriors a come- from-behind victory, their first, over the Old Crows in N.S. Senior hockey action. S. Ryan and Jim Brico scored second period goals for the Warriors. Old Crow marksmen were Val Robert- son, John Payne, and Dave Rupert. In another closely fought contest, the Old Buzzards, backed by the strong goal- tending of Keith Major edged the Canadians 5-4. Rob Mc- Candlish led the Buzzards with two goals in the third period, including the winner with three minutes left in the game while his team was shorthanded. Murray Feist and John Payne each had a goal and an assist for the losers.
