COMEBACK FOR CHAMPS By MARCY REKUNYK West Vancouver Pee Wee B Rep Hockey Team traveled to Kamloops last weekend for a three game series to determine Provincial Pee Wee B Champions and came home the champions. Two long games, three 20 minute stop time periods, wese, scheduled for Satur- day. The morning game was a very close, hard hitting affair ending with Kamloops winning 7 to 6. Scoring in Game ! was by Jason Jen- nings, (2) Mark Kaufmann, Matt Bunten, Ken Campbell and Jeff Rogers. The West Van Goal Tenders, Craig Wymer and Bobby Rekunyk turned away a total of 42 shots. Coach Rekunyk searched for a solution to scoring on Kamloop's allstar goaltender. He decided to wing to centre. Roger's line of .Mark Kaufmann and Jason Jennings started the Saturday evening game and they scored two goals in 1'A switch Jeff Rogers from left minutes and 4 goals in less than 5 minutes. Goals were scored by Jeff Rogers (2), Jason Jennnings (2), Kenny Campbell (2). Jason Cattermole (2) and Mark Kaufmann. The final score for game 2 was 9-2 for West Vancouver, setting up the Sunday game as the tie breaker for the ttle. The West Van team came out flying on Sunday morming with Jeff Rogers scoring his first of 4 goals with only 12 seconds gone in the first period. West Van held a 5-2 lead after the first period with goals from Mark Bunten, and Ken Campbell scored two of his three goals. The other goal was scored by Mark Kaufmann. West Van never looked back in the hard fought game and won the Provincial Championship by defeating Kamloops in the deciding game by 9 to 3. A total team effort was turned by all 16 players. The defense of Ryan Burnett, 3 assists, Peter Borsos, 1, Eric Kaufmann 2, Trevor Goss and David Lum. 2, was outsta.iding in their hard checking style. Forwards Matt Bunten,, | assist, Ronnie Laepple, 2 assits, Gerry Korec, 1, and Jason Cattermole gave their “all” to cap off the win for West Otters on the road Members of the . West Vancouver Otters Swim Club are having a different Easter swimming workshop. Head coach Graham Schnare, two chaperones and 27 swimmers left early Monday morning by bus for Reno, Nevada. They are spending three days training with the Reno Swim Club, then Fnday will bus to Woodland, California for a three-day swim meet. The team will overnight in Eugene, Oregon, and have a practice. They will be back in’ Vancouver Monday evening, April 11.
