Constable Bryce Gilkinson told the court that when he arrived on the scene Robert Curry “had been drinking,” and was “openly hostile.” He said Curry became more and more agitated during the discussion with the two pohce constables and said he had no plans to leave with them. ONE SHOT EFFORT Eventually Gilkinson said. Curry came outside with them He said while he was searching Curry, Curry swung back with his elbow and struck him tn the eye. After a struggle, Gukinson said, Curry was handcuffed and taken to the police station. Robert Curry testified that he knew there was an order not to visit his wife without her permission. : But Curry said he had called a few days before the incident to say that he was bringing some money for his wife. Robert Hughes, of Suite 202, 140 West 17th Street in North Vancouver, pleaded guilty to driving with a blood alcohol level of over .08. Crown counsel Ken Beauchamp told North Vancouver Provincial Court that police stopped the vehicle because it was moving very slowly and was veering sightly. He said Hughes told police that he had been to a party and had just slept for four hours. Hughes was tested and found to have a_ blood alcohol level of .1S and .14. “Well I'll take to heart what you said about a defensive driving course,” Judge J.B. Paradis told Hughes.
