And though his family went back to live with him the following day, he and his mother-in-law had not spoken since that night. Judge Nancy Morrison suspended sentence on Steven Wayne Evans, 27, of 101-9126 Capella Drive, Burnaby, placed him on probation for six months and ordered him to pay restitution for the damage to the door when he appeared in North Vancouver North Shore police are warning residents to secure their jewelry and other valuables after an outbreak of thefts of gold and silver in both North and West Vancouver. A police spokesman said that due to the high market. value of gold and silver at ‘oke down Provincial Court last week and pleaded guilty to a wilful damage charge. Crown counsel’ Eric Watson told court that on the night of December !1 the man’s mother-in-law, Mrs. Ella Connors, heard a loud knock on her door and when she answered it Evans told her he wanted to speak to his wife Judy, who was there with their child. Mrs. Connors was said to have told Evans his wife was asleep and his wife later came down and told him to go home. At that point he was said to tell her he “would break this time there have been a number of reported thefts of valuables in the area. The spokesman added that some merchants on the North Shore will buy such valuables at a lower price with no questions asked. Police are advising residents to consider home
