Standard equipment includes cruise control, power moonroof, power windows and door locks, alloy wheels and rear tail spoiler. The car, which comes in black, white, red and gold, has available among its op- tions air conditioning, door visors, wind deflector and a compact disc player avail- able. What’s really setting this car apart, however, is its four-wheel steering capacity. Because the rear wheels can turn in relation to the front wheels, there’s more control and stability during a variety of driving conditions. For example, when the driver is making a sharp turn, whether at an intersec- tion or when manoeuvring into a parking spot, the back wheels turn in an opposite direction to the front wheels. As a result, the minimum turning radius can be con- siderably smaller than with a conventional two-wheel stecring car. This reduces the FEATURES ON the Prelude Si include tilt adjustable steering wheel, optional 4 speed automatic transmis- sion with electronically con- trolled lock-up torque con- verter, color-matched corro- sion resistant, shock absorb- ing front and rear bumpers and rectractable halogen headlights. THE 1989 Prelude Si with 4WS (four-wheel steer- ing) is Honda’s answer to peop!e who want both comfort and sporis car handling in a reasonably steering wheel manipulation needed. When the car is taking gentle curves or changing lanes, however, the front and back wheels both turn in the same direction, generating the lateral corner- ing force simultaneously front and back. Prelude buyers can also expect a mileage of 10.3 litres per 100 km city and 8 litres per 100 km highway. The engine type is liquid cooled, 16 valve, DOHC, in-line four-cylinder with an aluminum head. A _ five- speed manual transmission is standard, and a four-speed automatic transmission with electronically controlled lock-up torque converter and programmed sport shifting option is optional.
