FIRE DESTROYED the second-
floor bedroom of a North Van-
couver City home Friday morning.

Nurth Vancouver City fire
department firefighters were called
to 761 East 29th Street at 11:48
a.m, to battle the blaze, which in-
vestigators believe was caused by
smoker’s material discarded in a
plastic waste-paper basket.

Occupants in the home were on
its first floor at the time of the
fire, but were alerted when a se-
cond floor smoke alarm went off.

The fire caused damages
estimated at $15,000.
