(Terry Peters photo) North Vancouver City council rejected an ap- plication to rezone a City lot, Monday night, despite the fact that the proposed building complied with the requirements of the planning bylaw. The application by H. Radziszewski to rezone 302 East 9th Street had already been before council twice this year and a similar ap- plication was rejected in July of 5978. The majority of council members followed the recommendations of the Advisory Planning mission, Com- the City Planner and the Technical Planning Committee, in rejecting the application. These bodies felt that the proposed building had the potential to be turned from a duplex into a fourplex and that it did not fit with the character of the area as outlined in the proposed community plan. Both Alderman Stella Jo Dean and Alderman Bill Sorenson were strongly opposed to rejecting the application. Alderman Dean said that City council had no proof that the applicant would turn the large duplex into a All RSP's are not alike. ezoning application rejected fourplex and that the ap- plication as submitted was acceptable. Alderman Sorenson said that the apphcant was willing to sign a covenant limiting the use of the building to a duplex and that in rejecting the application council was saying the applicant was not to be trusted. Alderman Gary Payne countered Dean's argument by saying that Radziszewski is known to have other buildings in the City of North Van which are in duplex zones but are operated as fourplexes.
