Fugitive Nazis may face extradition

TORONTO (UPC) -
Fugitive Nazi war criminals
discovered in Canada face
the possibility of extradition
to Israel or West Germany
for trial, Solicitor General
Robert Kaplan said Monday.

Kaplan said on the CTV

criminals living in Canada.

“There is the possibility of
extradition. West Germany
and. Israel and some other
countries have effective anti-
war criminal legislation.
They might extradite these
individuals so there could be
trials.”

He said extradition
treaties exist with both
nations. “These treaties have
been ‘used in other matters
and they could also be used
in connection with war
criminals.”

Kaplan, who represents a
Toronto constituency with a

high Jewish population, said
the issue of war criminals
had been revived because of
a controversy in West
Germany over whether or
not the statutes of limitations
on war crimes should expire.

Kaplan said there was also
the possibility that new
legislation could be in-
troduced in Parliament to
deal with war criminals
discovered in Canada.

Meanwhile, a Toronto
newspaper published a
picture Monday obtained

claiming to be a former high-
ranking SS officer.

found guilty of
sexual harassment

NUREMBERG, West
Germany (UPI) - In the first
soch application of its new
sexual harassment rules, the
U.S. Army has sent a female
soldier to jail, demoted and
fined her for sexually
harassing a male GI.
