There’s no doubr that most of us are trying to do our part. To help you better Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, here are a few suggestions from the GVRD: # Buy concentrates of cleaners and detergents — they have far less packaging and are often more economicai. Better still, replace chemical cleaners with environmentally friendly alterna- tives like vinegar and baking soda. @ Take cloth bags to the store, or if you only given to fundraising events buy a few items, don’t use a bag. Instead of gitt paper, wrap one gift in anoth- er — a searf, tea towel or handkerchief. Fill a mug with nuts, coffee beans or chocolates or a decorative basket or bow! with bath beads or potpourri. Make a cloth gift bag or a gift bas- ket and it can be used aver and over again. @ Make new furniture from old: an ashtray stand becomes a plant holder; a painted garden trellis or old doors make for a striking head- board; an old trunk finds new life as a coffee tabic, complete with storage; old window frames and trunk lids are reborn as mirror or picture frames.
