A hospital care worker
ripped off approxi-
mately $20,000 from a
senior living in Lions
Gate Hospital’s
extended care build-
ing.

Sharon Doornbosch, 34,
pleaded guilty to stealing
money from the 79-year-old
woman who lived in

: Evergreen House.

Vancouver RCMP,

Police say the hospital
~ employee wrote cheques that
amounted to about $20,560
on the hospital patient’s
account. .

tim confirmed with hospital
staff that she had not given
any cheques to Doornbosch

Doornvosch’s name.

Deornbesch, a Vancouver
resident, did not have a pre-
vious criminal record.

She was sentenced last
month to three years’ proba-
tien,

North Vancouver provin-
cial court Judge Ellen
Burdett ordered
Doornbosch to pay $19,200
compensation.

Doornkosch was directed
to perform 100 hours of
community work service.

One of ~Doornbosch’s
probation term orders states:
“You are prohibited from
engaging in any financial
tasks, transactions or errands
for any patients or persons in
your care during the course
of your employment.”
