[ve heard that it takes a very long time. Answer: Passports traditionally take several weeks for processing if you mail in your application. However, if you go to a passport office in person, it will be ready in approximately five working days. A. passport costs $35, payable by cash, certified cheque or money order. Applications for passports are available at post offices. You will require two passport photos that have been taken within the last 12 months. Look in the yellow pages of your telephone book under Photographers to find out where you can have passport photos taken. Two pictures should cost about $10. You will also require proof of .- your Canadian citizenship, such as a birth certificate. Only original documents, and not photocopies, will be accepted.
