The local 23- member volunteer health board is preparing a prelim- inary health and management plan, which board members hope to sub- mit to the Ministry of Health at the _end of September. The report will outline how the health board proposes to plan and coordinate health services as well as integrate and. manage services ‘now delivered by the province. It will also identify focal health priorities. Once the | Health Ministry “approves the plan, the North Shore Health Board will gradually take responsibility for allocating funds provided by the province, said Hutchinson, ; Currently 25 local agencies receive some or all of their funding . from the Health Ministry. Eventually, the. North Shore Health: Board. will oversee , about - $160 million worth of funding; with $100 million of that destined _for Lions Gate Hospital. More than [58,000 people in West Vancouver, North Vancouver, Deep Cove, Lions Buy and Bowen Island will receive health services under the North Shore Health Board. , Hutchinson said some agencies will amalganiate with the health board, while others will have a contract relationship with the board. .
