Board, the district's budget advisory committee presented numerous recom- mendations to restore district funding to 1991-92 levels and to examine services and administrative costs in the dis- trict. NORTH VANCOUVER SCHOOL BOARD By Kevin Gillies The committee's report comes weeks before the board presents its budget for the 1994-95 school year. ft stated, in part, that the com- mittee “identified what it considers to be the most pressing involve- ments needed in the services pro- vided by the school district and urges the board’s consideration of its recommended improvements in establishing its budget for 1994- 95." Committee recommendations included:’ ‘ @ the restoration of funding for library resources and related ser- vices to $991-92 fevels and provid- ing funds for automation of school libraries on a gradual basis starting in 1994-95; Gi restructuring the delivery of the district's Band and Strings pro- gram to cusure it continues withia the $175 fee: @ a significant improvement of current funding for operations and maintenance; @ the restoration of new equip- ment budgets and the development and implementation of a five-year plan to upgrade and/or replace existing technological equipment; the restoration of funding for instructional and, general supplics to 1991-92 levels, @ the establishment of teacher consultant positions in the [994-95 budget; @ the examination of the district's ~ current level of services to students of exceptional learning needs; Gi that the board cap administrative expenditures in ways that attempt to restore school-based administra- tive staffing levels to 1992-93 lev- els; & making provisions in the 1994- 95 budget to reduce class sizes in elementary and secondary schools.
