She volunteered as a bursar for the Canadian Harambee Education Society, a non-profit, non-sectarian, non-political organization that provides scholar- ships for poor, bright students in Kenya, Africa. Harrisen’s experiences in Kenya will be the focus of a special ser- vice at North Shore Unitarian Church Sunday, May 6 at 10:30 a.m. The joys and frustrations of adjusting to life in a slower lane, as well as African music and readings, will be featured.
