Lawson was the first to see the potential of West Vancouver and he was the district’s second reeve. Lawson, a railroad man, moved here from the east. He had two di: cughters and a son, One of his daughters Gertrude will celebrate her 95th birthday this year. She still lives in West Vancouver. Sports clubs look back TO COMMEMORATE the 75th anniversary, sports clubs of West Vancouver are researching the origins and growth of all sports ac- tivities in their community. There are plans to publish a book in the spring of '88. Organizers are collecting old programs, photographs, annual reports, clippings of news stories and special competitions, and trac- ing trophies to gather information. Fans are asked to assist if they have material on any of the more than 30 fields of sports recreation being reviewed. These include: archery, badmin- ton, baseball, bowling, cricket, croquet, curling, climbing, field hockey, fishing, football, golf, hockey, lawn bowling, ovienteer- ing, rugby, road racing, sailing, skating, skiing, soccer, squash, swimming, synchro, skating, shooting, surfing, tennis, track and field, and yachting.
