He worked for two years as bass guitarist for a rock band known as Cove Company, then spent a year as -house musician at. the Raven Inn. After studying jazz at Capilano College and devoting time to writing original material, Stanton returned to performing. playing bluegrass with the City Limits Band and work- JOE STANTON ing solo in lounges and res- taurants. Until recently Stanton has been playing bass with Silverlode and the Rodents, but Stanton prefers playing solo. ‘‘You’ve got more freedom--you don’t have to get along with anyone but yourself,’’ By bcing alone he has gained some success, His first single Waiting Such a Long Time was playlisted on 19 radio stations throughout B.C. and he’s hoping to con- tinue that success with another single coming out in September called Long Way Home. Until then he's continuing the lounge/cabaret circuit, strumming that easy-going, down-home kind of music.
