JOANNE MacDONALD Survey data was released by the North Vancouver School Board at Tuesday’s meeting. The survey, which asks whether students and parents are satisfied with such areas as course content, course availability, the school system in general, class sizes, parent-teacher relationships and teaching personnel, revealed that 88 percent of the survey’s respondents were ‘‘generally satisfied’’ with their schools. The survey data is expected to be discussed by both district staff and school prin- cipals in future meetings. Superintendent’ of Schools TAXI Dr. Rod Wickstrom = said repeating the survey every few years might be useful. Trustee Margaret Jessup told the board she was generally pleased with the survey’s results, but asked why the question regarding career planning had not received favorable response from the persons polled. Only 66 percent of the secondary students polled and 54 percent of secondary parents agreed enough assis- tance is being provided for further education and careers. Dr. Wickstrom responded that at the present time it is difficult to decide students’ futures due to the current economic situation. ‘‘There is no real form of career education § available due to the uncertainty of pre- sent careers in many fields,"’ said Wickstrom.
